3 exciting things to do in Queensland
Queensland State, located in north eastern Australia, occupies roughly a quarter of the country and has a coastline of 4,598 miles along the South Pacific Ocean. Much of the coastline is sheltered by the world famous Great Barrier Reef, one of the 5 UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in Queensland.
It has been identified as the fastest growing state in Australia and attracts over 2 million visitors per year. Here are 3 exciting things that no visitor should miss out on in Queensland:
Scuba-diving and Snorkeling at Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef
No visitor should ever leave Queensland without exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Both the largest coral reef system in the world and the area with the richest biodiversity in the world, the Great Barrier Reef is truly awesome. The white sand beaches, aquamarine waters, and coral gardens teeming with colourful tropical fish are not to be missed. Habitat to over 60% of the 1,500 species of fish and 72% of the species of coral found in the Great Barrier Reef, the marine biodiversity at Heron Island caters to visitors interested in scuba diving and snorkeling. Undersea explorer, Jacques Cousteau named Heron Island as one of the top 10 diving sites in the world. The clear and warm waters, together with the outstanding biodiversity, make the Heron Island an ideal location for scuba diving and snorkeling.

The Skyway Rainforest Cableway in the Daintree Rainforest
The oldest surviving tropical rainforest in the world, Daintree Rainforest should be on the to-do list of any traveller visiting Queensland. The entire continent of Australia was once covered in tropical rainforest, many millions of years ago. Climatic conditions have changed drastically over time, and Daintree retained its humid climate and tropical flora and fauna. The stability of the climate in Daintree has allowed a number of ancient species to continue to live with the same primitive characteristics as their ancestors 110 million years ago. Twelve of the 19 primitive flowering plants on earth are found in Daintree. Over 3,000 species of plants and an impressive variety of marsupials, reptiles, birds, bats, and other animals are found living in the Daintree rainforest. The Skyway Rainforest Cableway covers nearly 5 miles and will take you along the forest canopy and deep into this spectacular tropical rainforest.
White-water rafting on the Tully River
The Tully River is among Australia´s most well-known sites for white-water rafting. Surrounded by tropical rainforests, your descent down the Tully River will take you past mountains and lush vegetation. Thanks to the abundant rainfall of the tropical climate, the water volume is quite high. The town of Tully itself is known as the wettest place in all of Australia, receiving an average of more than 13 feet of rain per year. On a trip down the Tully River, you will encounter an astounding 45 rapids, including both Class III and IV rapids. The adventure-seeker in you will love the adrenaline rush and the nature-lover in you will marvel at the magnificent scenery.
