5 Things to do when traveling with your family
Family time is the most beautiful time of the year. Owing to the busy schedule of jobs, schools, and other works, not many people get a chance to hang out with their families. If you are planning to travel within the country to a new destination for fun, then that is surely a great idea. There are many things that people need to look forward to when it comes to traveling with family. If you are reading as the trip leader or a parent, then you have landed at the right spot.
Let me tell you those top things that you should do on family trips. I just came back from a week holidays with my little brother and my father so it’s a perfect time to write about family travel which I don’t usually do.
Five things to do when traveling with your family
1. Cut down your luggage
It is very important to make sure that you have minimum luggage in your car. Keep in mind that the more luggage you take, the lesser space you will have to sit, and the more hectic your trip will become. Moreover, if you are traveling during the exotic season of summer, then there’s certainly no need to pack bundles of clothes. Carry minimum luggage and recruit necessities in your bag only.
If traveling by a plane, train or a bus, a smaller bag is always a good idea. If traveling has taught me one thing, then it would be minimalism. We really do not need as many things in life as we think we do, trust me. On the recent trip with my dad and little brother I was laughing when I saw my brother’s suitcase. It was twice as big as mine, even though my 10-year old brother is actually half of my size but he is not used to pack yet.
2. Don’t forget the camera
Traveling with family is a very rare situation for most of the working parents and college/school going kids in the modern world. When you set out on a journey, then it is crucial to not just produce beautiful memories but also to capture them in one frame. Instead of clicking pictures with multiple phones, it is better to take a single camera along to capture all the beautiful moments.
3. Do the social detox
We live in a world where social media and our phones have grabbed us from head to toe. Family time during travel can only be made worthwhile if the emphasis is on interacting with one another rather than ignoring one another. Carve some smart rules during the travel and follow them yourself first. Go on a social detox and shrug of all the professional activities for a while. It is better that you travel during the summer holidays when kids are free too.
The last time we were in Egypt with my family, the wifi at the hotel was really slow, mostly non-existent. That was great as it forced us to talk to each other more instead of staring into our phones :) I was even giving English lessons to my brother and dad while on holidays as without internet we had more time for other things.
No doubt, this is the perfect time for you to relax and unwind with your family – making memories that you will treasure forever. If your family prefers to be entertained at all times, take this spare time to enjoy your hobbies, or better yet explore new hobbies with your little ones, like playing a new music instrument! The world is your oyster.
4. Don’t forget to camp
Camping is a great idea when it comes to having some fun outdoors. Instead of staying only at conventional 5-star hotels all the time, sometimes it is better to kiss nature and sit around the bonfire during the night. However, if you are willing to camp in a forest or some other place, then you must choose one that has been declared safe by the local authorities.
5. Travel to different places
Don’t visit only places that have become cliche or are often visited by the public. Choose spots where you have not been before. Traveling to different places gives a cosmopolitan experience and installs a different feeling in life. From Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal, to Sky Diving in Dubai, and visiting the majestic pyramids in Egypt… there’s so many options. For families, it can be daunting to plan long-distance trips when you have little ones that may not take traveling quite like you do. But, there are steps around this, and you open up so many fun, creative, and challenging ideas.
One extra suggestion when traveling with your family: spend a few minutes every day on your own as everyone needs some alone time to calm down. It is important to avoid arguments :)
Conclusion
Well, there are many other things that one can look forward to during travel. It is very important to enjoy every inch of the trip and have a great experience. Seldom do all of us get time when we can shape some great memories. Therefore it is important to enjoy such trips in life.

There is a limit in luggage so yes, always grab only what you require. This is really a good point.
Always travel with family is quite different comparing with travelling with friends so each and every moments should be captured.
