9,601.56 € -12 months, 14 countries, 21 flights in 2011
In the end of every year, all the bloggers do a post about what they did that year and what plans they have for the following year. I will do one about the best of 2011 in a couple of days.

Unfortunately, I lost all my data about my Mexico expenses and dates when my laptop was stolen in Playa del Carmen. So I only remember the whole amount of money spent there and I don’t take notes of the expenses back at home, so as well I just know how much I spent in total during the 3 months in Central Europe. I checked out my bank accounts and counted all the money I spent January – September. It was 6,899.76 €.
Find expenses of my Asia trip below. I divided them in a couple of categories: food, accommodation, transport (including gasoline), cosmetics (including laundry, massages, face creams, perfumes, tissues and all other cosmetics), entrance (toilets, internet connection, entrance to historical buildings, farms, gardens, or any other entrance, visa), tours (travel agencies, tour guides, island hopping, boat trips), souvenirs and phone credit.
1 – food, 2 – accommodation, 3 – transport, 4 – cosmetics, 5 – entrance and visa, 6 – souvenirs, 7 – tours, 8 – credit

From 30. September 2011 to 31. December 2011 I spent 2,701.95 €:
566.96 € on food
227.90 € on accommodation
1,471.35 € on transport
76.32 € on cosmetics and massages
111.66 € on entrances and visas
109.24 € on souvenirs
118.88 € on tours
19.44 € on phone credit
So like I mentioned, since January to the end of December of 2011, I visited 14 countries (Italy, Spain, Mexico, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines; I mean if I do count Singapore and Hong Kong as independent places and I don’t count Germany where I never got out of the airport in Frankfurt).
I took 21 flights in 12 months, all of them were mentioned above already.
And for all this, I spent 9,601.56 € during the whole 2011.
Which is 800.13 € per month.
Do you take notes of your expenses? How much did you spent in 2011?

Thanks Jaryd, it really is great to show people traveling can be done without having millions on your bank account.

That’s awesome! Wish we had cheaper transportation options in the US. For most people, that’s the most expensive part of traveling.

Based on these numbers I think traveling is cheaper than working. I need to stop working..
