Benefits of traveling to Canada
These months in Europe right now are months of travel conferences for me. I was planning to stay mostly at home for a few weeks beginning in September to catch up with some work as when traveling full time it is very hard.
But you know, a few bloggers convinced me to attend TBU in Porto and TBEX in Girona conference in September, and then TBE in Genoa in October and WTM in London in November. So yeah, it is me traveling around Europe for a bit again after spending the first half of the year 2012 in South, Central and North America :)
As I am going to attend TBEX next week in Spain and really looking forward to it, I can tell you that you will see me at TBEX in Totronto in June 2013. It is not a secret any more as I got the ticket for the conference there already.
And thankfully, speaking with some Canadians during the past years, I find English in Canada to be pretty easy to understand, so hopefully will have no language barriers there :)
And speaking of which, Canadian English is more similar to the one spoken in the USA, which I personally prefer to British English when traveling to England. But most of all, let’s see how I am able to cope with my zero French if passing through places where English is not so common!
I think it is the right time for me to start planning my first trip to Canada.
I remember that I always wanted to visit Canada. It all started probably in Barcelona in 2007 when among so many cool people who crossed my way, I also met a really nice Canadian who kept on enumerating me some benefits of traveling to Canada. Many years passed since then, I admit, many other countries visited, but next year it will be finally Canada for entire month to cross it off my bucket list!
Apart from the conference there, I will be visiting Toronto for a few days and hoping to see as many interesting things there as possible (including festivals, events and spas woo hoo). And I will love skyscrapers!
Then, I really cannot wait to see some of my great friends who will travel there (also travel bloggers) and friends who live in Toronto (I met while traveling). And of course also meet new interesting people :) Like I already mentioned a few times, for me people are one of those ”things” that I remember about each place. They bring life to it all, so without them it would not mean anything.
I am also wondering what other places I should visit as I am planning to travel around Canada for a month or so before heading back to Europe for summer. So it looks like 2 or 3 more weeks with no plans yet. Any ideas???
What I would definitely love to do would be visiting Niagara Falls … and as for me the best way to see things is from the skies (yes, I am obsessed with bird’s-eye view!), then guess what … helicopter flying above the Niagara Falls was always on my to-do list!!! Especially after taking a helicopter ride above Liptov in Slovakia in August 2012 and then in Las Vegas and falling in love with helicopters even more, I will just have to do it :)
And maybe Montreal and Quebec as well.
And I’ve also heard really great things about British Columbia and for a nature enthusiast like me it could be a great place to spend some time in, right? Obviously together with a city break in Vancouver for a bit.
Any more recommendations? What should I visit while in Canada?

YAY!! We hope you come to British Columbia! The Okanagan Valley is the most beautiful (we may be a bit bias!) part of B.C. There is plenty to see and do during any season, Big White Ski Resort, Zipzone Peachland, Whiplash Cable Wake Park and many wineries to tour! You should come and check it out! :)

If you get the time, you should pop by Chicago too! I realize it’s not in Canada, but you could always call it a “Great Lakes Tour!”

You’re going to love Toronto (I might be biased as I live here, lol)
You totally have to take the train across the country–it’s the best way to see it, and you can do it easily in a month :]

Go to Vancouver and Victoria if you can – both gorgeous. And, if you go, be sure to have tea at the Empress Hotel!

I think Canada is the “in” travel destination for Antipodeans at the moment; long gone are the days when Kiwis and Aussies would only base themselves in London. The former makes a great base for exploring North America!

Thanks for the shout out!! You’re going to love Canada, just remember to bring your wallet as there are no real deals up here. Also since you’re so close, go enjoy Montreal and I can probably link you with some contacts for Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City… ;)
