Best activities to do on an adventure holiday in South Africa
South Africa is an amazing country that is becoming most known for extreme sports, and attracts adrenaline junkies from across the world who are all looking for thrill seeking experiences. In fact, it offers so many different adventure experiences that to try them all, you’d probably need to vacation in South Africa several times over!
I have visited a couple of destinations in Africa but I haven’t really had the chance to explore South Africa. I might go one day and try some of the following activities.
Adventure holidays in South Africa
Bungee Jump off the Bloukrans Bridge
At 216m, the Bloukrans Bridge holds the record for being the highest bungee from a bridge. As well as being a total adrenaline pumping experience, the bridge is located along South Africa’s Garden Route, meaning you can bungee while enjoying some of the country’s most breathtaking views.
If a bungee jump is a little too extreme for you, then you could take a tour along the top arch of the bridge or go on the 200m long zip wire.
Snorkeling with Seahorses
This endangered little green seahorse has been around for more than 40 million years and is native to estuaries on the southern coast, especially in Knysna. Join a diver and venture into the water at high tide, where if you are lucky you might be able to see a male seahorse giving birth – how amazing is that!
As a bonus, Knysna is also situated on the Garden Route, meaning you can have two extreme experiences in one day.
Explore Table Mountain
Overlooking Cape Town, this flat topped mountain is the perfect place for adventurers. You can ascend via cable car if you’re looking for a challenge, hike all the way to the top. No matter which route you take, you’ll find incredible views. Plus, rather than taking the same route down, you could hang off a huge rope and abseil down. Sounds amazing!
For great Cape Town accommodation deals, I recommend checking out AccommoDirect.com.
Walk with Rhinos in Kruger National Park
Spend a night in a luxury tent before spending time two trained guides, who will teach you about the area’s wildlife and take you to meet the Park’s rhinos. Or if a tent isn’t your thing, you can have a total nature experience and sleep on wooden platforms under the stars. Such an amazing and unique experience!
South Africa tops the list of places to visit for an adventure holiday. So if you’re looking for an extreme vacation, get booking!
