Aloe vera wrap and chakra balancing at Blue Osa Spa
Aloe vera wrap at Blue Osa Spa
Staying at Blue Osa paradise meant just one thing … spa treatments for my project.
As I spent some time sunbathing in the past few weeks, especially at Bocas del Toro and San Blas islands, I needed my skin to relax. The best I could do after getting a chocolate massage full of antioxidants was to lie down for an hour and let Laura do wonders with one of my favorite plants on the Earth.
Right, it was time for an aloe vera wrap, the magical natural gel that heals the wounds, cuts, and soothes the skin. Due to its nutrients, aloe vera helps the skin to cool down in hot weather, heals the sunburn and just makes your biggest body organ smoother.
In Ayurveda aloe vera plant is used to treat acne, psoriasis and eczema. Although I do not have those problems, I cheated with a chocolate cake after dinner which showed as a spot on my face because of the milk in it, and also sometimes I get some sweat pimples on my cleavage and chin so the vitamins in aloe vera just minimize them.
I took off the clothes and lay down on the massage table. Laura gently massaged my legs, back, arms and then did the same from the front using aloe vera gel mixed with natural essential oils. I loved sniffing the lavender oil which makes me relax.
Aloe vera is one of my favorite miraculous plants and being a clumsy person, I would have scars all over my body without it. Aloe vera gel in a tube made it to one of the things I cannot travel without.
Yet, it was my first time ever being all covered with freshly harvested aloe vera. Once done, Laura wrapped me in a towel so the aloe vera got deeper into my skin. It felt a bit sticky but a pleasant sticky and I knew it the benefits of it were just priceless.
Chakra balancing at Blue Osa Spa
Afterwards, when we let the aloe vera work its magic on my skin and make me look 10 years younger, we used the time for chakra balancing as it is one of Laura’s specialties. I closed my eyes and just smelled the essential oils that filled the spa room.
The 7 chakras are centers of energy in our body through which the energy flows and they are all connected to different aspects of our life. We need to have them all stable to be able to lead a calm life with body, mind and soul in balance.
I was not really checking what the chakra balancing was as I felt so relaxed I just let it all go. All I remember is that Laura used Tibetan sound bowls and made me sniff a different essential oil for each chakra telling me the most important info about the chakras.
The essential oils Laura used are from Young Living though they also use Aromaflor oils at Blue Osa Spa (you can buy them at the gift shop.) Laura uses her own combination of essential oils, but they can vary depending on therapist or what the client needs.
Chakra 1 is existential survival – to boost feelings of security Laura used Peace and Calming essential oils.
Chakra 2 is sexuality and pleasure chakra but also many traumas are kept here. Essence Valor (value) to give us strength to heal all the dramas in our past.
Chakra 3 is connected to our Will Power. Laura used Believe oil to boost it so we may believe in ourselves :)
Chakra 4 is the heart – feelings, emotions, love … To fill ourselves with joy Laura used Joy essential oil.
Chakra 5 represents the throat and thus the communication. Essence used was Purification to help our thoughts, actions and feelings be all coherent and clear the confusion.
Chakra 6 is the third eye. Laura added some Common Sense oil to fortify intuition.
Chakra 7 is the Crown chakra connected to our spiritual life. Laura used Harmony essential oil so that we are aligned with our true self and path …
