Deevana Plaza Patong Phuket – a good hotel in Patong Phuket
After TBEX blogger conference in Bangkok and exploring Khmer civilization in the North Eastern Thailand, I decided to take a flight to Phuket for the first time.
Straight from the airport a shuttle bus took me to my hotel on the Patong beach called Deevana Plaza. It costs 180 baht and takes around 40 minutes but it was raining like crazy so it was a bit longer.
I got the nicest welcome at the hotel, my suitcase was taken care of and a welcome fruit drink with a fresh towel were waiting for me.
The receptionist was the cutest guy ever and his smile made me feel as if I was his older sister and just wanted to hug him.
Then a staff member walked me to my room number 621 in the middle of the top 6th floor and explained me the basic info.
Wow, what a lovely room and the pool view, oh yes!
Alter a couple of days at the hotel I can honestly say I felt like a Queen. Each staff member could remember my name and they were all so nice to me. Very helpful.
What I liked about Deevana Plaza Patong Phuket:
My deluxe pool view room – it came with a king size bed, different pillows, very soft cotton bed sheets, a safe, rain umbrellas, a pool bag, big bathroom with toilet, shower and a bathtub, free toiletries, TV, a work table, another table and sofa chairs. A deluxe pool view room I stayed at (1 or 2 persons with breakfast) costs approx. 4,154 Thai baht = 106 euro but check out the website for a better deal.
Balcony – I liked to watch the pool downstairs from my room balcony. I was also grateful for being able to wash my underwear, bikini and shirts and let them dry up there. The Sun was shining there most of the afternoon so they dried up super fast.
Free wifi – I needed to get some work done while there so WiFi working all around the hotel was much appreciated. I could even update my social media channels from the pool. How cool is that?! And it was fast without any interruptions in my room. At check-in you get a paper with username and password which works for 2 devices.
Breakfast included – I love hotels with breakfast so you didn’t need to look for anything somewhere else when still half sleepy. Buffet breakfast at Deevana Plaza offers something for anyone. From tropical fruit juices, fresh fruit, cereals, veggie salads, to hot vegetarian meals and meat. The whole restaurant is very modern making it for a pleasant morning. Obviously, I had mostly fruit only as that’s my normal breakfast (trying to make it easier for my body to digest and also reload with water after the night.) Ripe papaya was the best!
Orientala Wellness Spa – on my first day I was so tired I booked a spa treatment just after my first hours at the swimming pool. A 3-hour treatment was all I needed and I can highly recommend their services. I had steam sauna, scrub, foam bath, oil massage, hammer muscle release (you hear it right, with a wooden hammer!) and a facial. In another post you can read all about how I got beaten up with a hammer. If you want to leave like a brand new person, this is what you need.
Swimming pool – in my opinion, hotels with pools rank like 300% better than those without. I don’t think I am the only one who enjoys swimming or at least cooling down in hot humid weather. The water is of very pleasant 31 Celsius degrees, has a pH of 7.2 and not much chlorine (0.5). Every day I spent a few hours there relaxing on the bed, answering work emails and swimming minimum of 15 daily laps. Oh yes, that’s what I call life.
Location – situated on the 239/14 Raj-U-Thid 200 Pee Road full of shops, souvenirs, restaurants and exchange offices. It’s just minutes away from the Patong beach and also the night market where you can get tropical fruit, smoothies and many local dishes.
Attention to details – my room was cleaned again in the evening, bed prepared with a nice flower made of citrus smelling leaves.
Environmentally friendly – signs around the room and bathroom ask you to save water, detergents and electricity, and reuse the towels.
Kids club – I don’t have kids get but I am permanently surrounded by many. And at this hotel there were quite a few families who for sure appreciated a corner by the pool with kids toys.
Flora – palm trees, orchids, huge heart-shaped leaves and many plants around the pool that reminded me of my beloved Costa Rica.
Swim bar with smoothies and other drinks (not included), rooftop terrace with the views, free pool towels.
- 24/7 Fitness Center and meeting rooms
- 2 bottles of complimentary water in the room (1 liter per day but I even got another liter always when they came to prepare my room for the night)
My only recommendation for improvement would be more healthy food – vegetarian/vegan/raw vegan options at the restaurant. So if the guests would like those, they wouldn’t need to go out searching for them somewhere else (as I had to.) I only found vegetable spring rolls on the menu.
Staying at the Deevana Plaza Patong was part of the Adventure and Spa project. My thanks for such a lovely experience.
