Photo of the week – stunning El Chiflon waterfall in Chiapas
When I visited Chiapas, the most beautiful state of Mexico when it comes to natural wonders, I took a day trip from San Cristóbal de las Casas to the Lakes of Montebello and El Chiflón waterfall. And I left with both places deep in my heart.
El Chiflón is a 70 m high waterfall on the river San Vicente. The river makes natural pools of turquoise colour where you can take a swim on the way up to the highest waterfall. If you want to get as close as possible to the highest waterfall (expect to get wet), you have to cross the river and get to the right side, but if you are up for some adventure like I was, try tirolesa (zip line) and stay at the left side of the river.
The El Chiflon waterfall in Chiapas is just something WOW once you climb up to one of the closest viewpoints. Surrounded by green vegetation, palm trees and cane is a paradise for those who love nature.
My trip to el Chiflón was a press trip organized by travel agency Viajes Zuambary. Follow them on facebook. Thanks a lot! However, all the opinions in this post are honest and just mine.

Yes, I did, but not right below the waterfall, but a bit further :)

Wow, that is really a beautiful waterfall. Did you go swimming in the pool underneath?
