Exotic Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica – Blue Osa day 5
My 4th day on the Exotic Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica was better than I could imagine. Honestly, the best day after a while. But then the night was also the shortest one and I got hardly any sleep. Not sure if I was so excited about everything that happened that day or what that I could not fall asleep. And then, at 4 am the howler monkeys decided to be the loudest ever when passing around our rooms.
I drank some water with lemon, hugged the guys in the kitchen and at 5.30 am made my way to the Tamales beach where we planned to meditate with Mindy and Gayle Kabaker (the illustrator). The sunrise in Osa Peninsula was as usual one of the best ones.
Yet I still could not really concentrate and switch off my mind during the meditation. I kept opening my eyes and staring at the big orange ball rising on the horizon.
And then it was also the first morning when a big ”pirate” ship . I felt like in the Pirates of the Caribbean. A meditating pirate watching a Caribbean pirate ship on the Pacific coast … Very pirate!
Then I drank my young barley and had a bowl of watermelon for breakfast checking out on my Great Kiskadee bird family in the palm nest. I also watched Gayle drawings, peaceful :)
It was also the first day when we saw the howler monkeys – until then we could just hear them. The whole family was howling and eating right above our kitchen. So cute! They woke me up at 4 am but who cared if they were making I-am-sorry faces? Wildlife in Osa Peninsula is one of the highlights for me. You have your little ZOO wherever you look.
I didn’t have much energy for the morning yoga in Blue Osa. I didn’t even feel like joining the rest but I was there to do yoga and not every day is a good day, right? You just have to do the best with what you’ve got.
We did some Sun Salutations and my very first headstand when I kicked the legs up on my own. And I thought I had no energy :)
The topic of the day was LOVE. Ironically, today is the day when I feel love the least. Maybe I am just exhausted to concentrate on my feelings or people around. Maybe the love topic was chosen for today on purpose as most of us are super tired in the middle of the yoga retreat. I guess that happens all the time and Gayle Olson, our yoga teacher, knew it.
At the end of the yoga class we lay down for the Savasana and put our legs on the wall. Gayle speaks about love to people we lost. The tears started rolling down my cheeks when I remembered how my younger brother committed suicide in 2006 and then how my 39-year-old uncle died of cancer in 2011 when I was in the Philippines. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I am sending love to heaven or wherever you might be now …
There’s gluten-free banana flour bread and a salad with chickpeas and rice for lunch. I am still on my vegan gluten-free diet, but not 100% raw vegan which I can feel when it comes to energy levels and bigger belly :D
After lunch, most of us sit into 2 cars and make our way to the Zipline. It started to pour down like crazy and in that storm we could not do the zipline. Such a shame! Me with Lisa and Sara came back to Blue Osa, the rest of the girls left to Puerto Jimenez town. I copied some photos, had coconut water and veggie tortillas without cheese.
In the afternoon I had aloe vera wrap and chakra balancing at Blue Osa Spa with Laura. Aloe vera is one of my favorite plants for skin and in general, too. The chakra healing with the Tibetan bowls helped a lot. I gained some energy and felt less nervous than before.
I am on Exotic Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica and I am nervous … why am I nervous?? Hm maybe because I have no plans since Saturday and have a lot of work to do but don’t really spend time online these days as we are supposed to disconnect and go deeper into ourselves. So I am trying to do that and forget about shitload of work waiting for me and hundreds of emails that need to be replied to … I could not really concentrate on work in such a paradise anyway, so let’s enjoy!
I am off to the pool for the first time today to swim. It’s just before the afternoon yoga, just before sunset. I look around and observe the black and red Tanager birds flying around. I hear a couple of Scarlet Macaws close by.
”Take a walk – and love every thing on your path.
Animal, mineral, human, spirit
Love each and every thing your eyes fall upon
And notice how much more you love your self.”
There’s different kinds of love … Always choose LOVE.
