Getting out of your comfort zone in Berlin: 6 Exciting Things to Do
Traveling is one of the best things you can do for your mental health. Whilst giving you some freedom to explore new places, it also serves as a great way to de-stress from the anxieties of everyday life and work as well as meet new people. The multiple opportunities that travelling offers are incredible and should be grasped at every opportunity!
When we travel, sometimes we stick to doing what we know and take a beach holiday instead. Yet again, travelling to new places is about so much more than relaxation. It is about getting out of our comfort zones and doing exciting activities we have never experienced before.
One of the best city breaks for activities of this nature is Berlin – a place brimming with rich history and culture. Keep reading to find out some of the most exciting things you can do in Berlin. We guarantee some will get you out of your comfort zone!
Book a session at a music studio
Are you a music lover? If so, then Berlin is definitely a fantastic holiday destination for you. Germany – and Berlin in particular – is known for its amazing music scene from the underground to the top music charts. If you regularly fantasise about music and getting the chance to experience a day in the life of a music artist in Berlin, we recommend visiting music studios in Berlin. There are many to choose from and each offers different things.
However, you can book the studio for as long as you like and have a great time. You don’t have to be a music professional to visit an aufnahmestudio Berlin and the studio staff will be there to help! Why not get out of your comfort zone and add this to your bucket list?
Tour the U-Bahn
One of the best things about Berlin as a city is the amazing public transport system that is in place. There are so many different ways to get about the city – from buses to metros, trains and trams. Whenever tourists visit the city, they are usually amazed by how quick and easy it is to get around, especially when they come from cities where public transport is quite difficult.
The transport is always very easy to navigate, meaning it is pretty hard to get lost. So, we believe that this serves as a fantastic way to get out of your comfort zone in Berlin as you can trust the lines to get you anywhere.
Perhaps the most exciting and quickest way to get around the city is the Berlin underground – also known as the U-Bahn. You can expect the metro to arrive at your chosen station up to every eight minutes, and you can purchase tickets to hop on and off at different stops. It is very reliable and even operates 24 hours at weekends!
To make the most of it, purchase an all-day ticket and spend a day travelling around the different stops. This is such an exciting thing as every neighbourhood in Berlin is very different and it allows you to experience the city as a whole.
Visit Badeschiff
If there was ever a way to get out of your comfort zone fully, it is attending a public swimming pool. Make this swimming pool larger than an ordinary pool, put it outside and make it float on a river – that’s Badeschiff! Easy to get to via the U-Bahn, the floating public swimming pool is located on the east of the River Spree.
Individuals – including locals and tourists – can swim freely in the pool while listening to music and other exciting entertainment. Whilst this is certainly on some peoples’ Berlin bucket list already, not many tourists know about Badeschiff —it is certainly worth a visit!
Visit Museum Island
Germany as a country is very well-known for its rich history and culture; Berlin, in particular, is home to the best museums. Museum Island, located on the River Spree, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.
The Island consists of five different museums that thousands of people visit each year including: the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Bode-Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie and the Pergamonmuseum. There is no better way to experience the history of the country than to visit an island wholly dedicated to museums and culture.
Experience a Berlin festival
As we noted that Berlin is known for its music and culture scenes, another way to get entirely out of your comfort zone is to experience a festival in Berlin. There are so many different festivals that are held each year in the capital but the festivals during summertime are the best! We recommend visiting the Carnival of Cultures which serves as a fabulous option to experience lots of different cultured themes such as food, music, dance and art.
The festival usually takes place over four days and the number of visitors grows every single year! We recommend doing a quick search and planning your trip around the potential festivals ahead of time.
Go to a stand-up comedy gig
Last but not least, why don’t you get out of your comfort zone and visit a stand-up comedy gig? The stand-up comedy scene in Berlin is absolutely huge and many locals and tourists love the experience every single time.
Usually, you can attend a gig in different parts of the city around three times per week, but this depends on who you see and where. The great thing is that you can experience shows in English too! This means there is something for everyone.
