Win holidays to South Tyrol and a watch – old competition
So when I heard about a competition to win a trip to South Tyrol, I told myself I just had to try my luck.
I read there are 300 days of sunshine in the area which seems like a paradise, especially in Europe where it’s not a very common thing, right? And that would pretty much be the only thing I needed to get me personally to participate in the giveaway (plus there’s 23 Michelin stars across 20 restaurants!)
But South Tyrol has a lot more to offer than just happy sunshine or wine (and even though I quit drinking alcohol back in 2009, I have to admit famous South Tyrol’s wines would convince many of you, right?) …
South Tyrol, situated just 160 km North of Verona, is famous for its lakes, mountains and rivers formed 90 million years ago where hiking and cycling are THE fun adventures to do.
Bolzano and Merano are probably the most-known towns in the province and their surroundings offer breath-taking lakes such as Lago di Braies, Lago di Resia or Lago di Dobbiaco; waterfalls such as Cascate di Riva, funiculars as Funivia Renon or Stelvio National Park with stunning views. Did you know that one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world, Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, are also located in South Tyrol.
Are you more into museums than into nature? Perfect too … You can pay a visit to the Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, visit the historic centre of Mezano or he Museo Etnografico in Brunico.
There’s so much to see in the unspoiled nature of the South Tyrol that it sometimes surprise me the province has not become overcrowded with tourists yet.
