Where to stay in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo – hotel Villas Paraiso
If you come to Ixtapa and need a hotel, the best choice for you is Hotel Villas Paraíso opened in 1994. It is a hotel that can be characterized by many contrasts, both rich and middle class people visit, not only Mexican, but mostly Canadians and the U.S. citizens can be seen here from the season November to March.
I stayed there for 3 nights and I have to say I have never got a better personal approach than in this hotel. The director of the hotel, Ricardo, is a really nice guy, so helpful and caring about the visitors. Ask him anything you need and he will help you. And all the other members of the staff are so great as well, willing to help you with a smile on the face.
The hotel has 96 rooms altogether on 4 floors. Most of the rooms are the same, just there are some bigger ones at the 4th floor. Every room has a TV, air conditioning, a sofa and kitchen, it is quite big as most of the people who stay over here are families. There are 2 double beds in every room, plus the mentioned sofas. Free wifi connection is available at the entrance of the room, at the sofa. It does not get to the bedroom which I so appreciated because I could sleep and did not spend a lot of time online in bed.
Two swimming pools belong to the hotel Villas Paraíso, a big one of 1,2 m and one very small for children. They are open from 8am to 10pm, but if you use them even during the night, it is not a problem if you don’t shout a lot. The view from the rooms is to the swimming pool.
The big pool is full of people early in the morning, until like 11pm when people leave to the beach, so if you want some piece and have the whole swimming pool just for yourself, stay there during the day before 5pm when the visitors start coming back to the hotel. Then everyone is cooling down again until late at night. The hotel has a table tennis at the second floor and tennis court at the ground floor for you to play.
The hotel is such a vivid place full of life. You will have great time here, get to know real Mexican people, learn how families live, see how Mexican children are happy and playing all the time and their parents so smiling. You will learn here how to enjoy life to maximum and not to waste it.
Villas Paraíso offers you tourist information, with maps available, and tourist guides to take you for a tour or to one of the beaches close. Anyway, you can get to the closest beach walking from the hotel, but I recommend you to visit some other beaches if you have a chance, for example those at the Ixtapa Island. They are different and much nicer.
The hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant for a little fee. I mean a little one, in comparison with the expensive restaurants you find in Ixtapa. Especially you will get Mexican food here and for normal cheap Mexican prices. But of good quality. So the hotel gets guests from other hotels just to eat here in the restaurant. I really liked the food. Soon the hotel will start serving more dishes, so bon appetit :)
If you want any souvenirs, key rings, cups, T-shirts or some basic food and water, there is a shop in the hotel opened every day 8am to 10pm.
If you need water, next to the lifts there is a tank with potable water to use whenever you want. If you need anything else, like I said, the director of the hotel Ricardo Gomez is there every day and he is more than happy to help you with anything. I am so grateful for the friendly approach I got in Villas Paraíso. So happy holidays :)
This stay was a press trip. Many thanks to the owner who is an amazing person! All the thoughts in this post are my own as usual.
