How to keep your life running while traveling
Each time I present at a conference, be it a travel, tech, marketing or a raw vegan one, I keep getting the same questions over and over again.
How do you deal with your personal life on the road?
How do you keep the good old friendships and content family members without losing important people?
How do you keep your routines and habits when traveling?
And also, how do you earn money without a ”normal” job?
Well, my answers are simple and easily understandable. I make living travel blogging, public speaking, teaching yoga and organizing raw vegan courses, and working online.
3 things I do to keep my life running while traveling:
1. Talk to parents regularly. I talk to my mother almost every day if I get wifi. And when I say talk, I mean I try to send her a sentence or two on Facebook whenever I can and she does the same. She is always the one most interested in what I do and where I am (you know moms), so I try to keep quiet and happy knowing I am ok. My dad is not the same, he checks my online posts more often than mom and needs to hear from me once or twice a week to know I am doing fine. He needs no details, mom needs them all. I use Whatsapp or Viber to chat with my dad (my parents are divorced so it’s double work.)
2. Talk to my best friends. My best friends have regular jobs and there’s not so much happening in their lives compared to mine. So they don’t feel the urge to chat every day and honestly, I don’t have so much free time, either. But once in a while, usually when one of us is in trouble/feeling lonely, we do talk for hours telling each other all the things that have happened in the past weeks/months. We know each other so well that sometimes even no contact for a month is ok and then we just get back on track as if no time has passed in the meantime.
3. Get a healthy exercise routine. This might be a difficult thing for me as I have weeks when I am super balanced with both food, yoga and other exercise, but then comes a month or two when I just cannot seem to find time to move as much as I could. I am so against routines because they make me appreciate less the things I do on a regular basis. This makes it harder to exercise when doing something different every day on the road. However, I do my best to keep a balanced health eating mostly raw vegan, practicing yoga, swimming and walking/hiking.
