What are you looking for when traveling?
When it comes to picking a beach destination, what factors do you look for? For most people there are a few common boxes that need to be ticked, whether you’re heading further away, or closer to home. The extras on top are the things that make each destination subtly different, and this is often what it boils down to when you make the big decision on where to head.
No matter where you’re going, or how long for, I always think if you’re going to only go on one major holiday per year, it should be one to remember, with all the stops thrown at it in order to make it enjoyable for all the right reasons. You don’t want disappointment on your hands when you’ve saved so long and hard.
This is why I always book a hotel at the airport the night before I travel, to not only cut out the stress of travel day, and to avoid having to get up too early to travel to the terminal door, but also to start my holiday a night earlier, which is always a good thing in my eyes!
You can easily combine a hotel with airport parking, often for a great price, and usually saving money on the cost of public transport for more than one person. I regularly use the hotels at Manchester Airport, and I’d recommend you check out what you can find at the airport. If you’re going to holiday, make sure you do it well!
Cutting out stress and worry with regards to your travel means a better frame of mind to start your holiday, without wasting the first day trying to get over what came before. Enjoy every single second, that’s my motto!
Once you’ve sorted out your travel extras, you are free to look forward to the fun you’re going to have in your destination, but what is it that you look for in a beach resort?
Family fun
If you’re traveling as a family, you need to find a resort which is family friendly, and offers plenty of activities and nightlife for the kids. It’s no good going to Magaluf and wondering why you can’t find a kid’s disco on the main strip!
Beach quality
The same can be said for the beach. Half of your holiday will probably be focused on chilling out on the beach, so you want a high quality basis for your break. Trip Advisor is a good place to head for honest reviews, because official websites for the resort will probably tell you the beach is amazing, when the truth might be a little different.
Watersports and fun activities
Again, research before you decide where you’re going to find out what there is to do in regards to activities that make you laugh. Chilling by the pool or beach, doing the cultural thing etc is all very well and good, but you’re on holiday, you want fun in the sun, so find out what watersports and other fun activities there are on offer.
Excursions
And finally, I think you should always go to a resort that has exciting and different excursions on offer, somewhere with a little culture, and something to show you the real way of life in the place you’re visiting. Again, online is the place to head.
Whatever you look for in your beach resort, I guess the one thing we all want plenty of is what is pretty much guaranteed in summer – sun!
