MTV Music Awards Madrid 2010
I went to marvelous Madrid on the 6th to 8th Nov 2010. But it was just a coincidence that one of those days, on the 7th, there was MTV EMA 2010. I did not plan to go there as I thought you have to buy the tickets and all my friends on that night were supposed to work, so obviously to go there on my own … no, thank you!
So I did not even check it out properly, where, who and what was going to be it all about. Then, when one of my friends called me, she said there was a Linkin Park concert for free after 6pm on the 7th Nov, but she did not know where.
So I planned to go for a walk to Retiro park and then check out on internet the place of the concert. I was walking to Retiro from Puerta del Sol and at the metro station at Plaza de Cibeles there were so many young people and then I heard music so I knew there was something happening somewhere close.
All the people were going to Puerta de Alcalá so I followed them. The street was closed for traffic and policemen checked all our bags.
The stage was just next to Puerta de Alcalá and when I was coming closer, realized it was Linkin Park who were singing there – the music I heard from far. Basically, this was part of MTV EMA 2010, called Red Carpet Show.
Then there was a proper Music Awards show at Magic Box in Madrid, opened by Eva Longoria (she has horrible cellulite on her ass!!!), with Shakira, Dizee Rascal, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Plan B, B.o.B. and Bon Jovi.
Let’s go back to EMA Red Carpet Show where I was. I came there at 4.20pm, then it started to get really packed with people, when we finally reached almost 100, 000 fans. People were climbing up everything possible to see better, even up the toilets, railings, walls that had something to hold on. Linkin Park only sang 3 songs, but it was to warm up before the real concert started.
Then it took them quite a long time to change the stage and prepare everything. Meanwhile there was some music on and the add of the new Swift car. And of course the moderator talking, he was very funny, he showed his ass to the audience to invite 30 Seconds to Mars to the stage.
First, I was like who the hell is this guy, with hair dyed to blond, dressed all in white leather jacket and trousers, with white gloves and sunglasses screaming and jumping there. Then I realized, of course, who else could it be then Jared Leto. To be honest he was the best one interacting with the audience and I loved their songs, mostly Hurricane. Such a great atmosphere.
A surprise came when Kanye West jumped onto the stage during 30 STM singing and they sang together. Kanye was not supposed to come but took the last plane just to sing one song with 30 STM and it was lovely, he has such a sexy vibrating voice. At the end of the song there were small pieces of paper flying everywhere, looked amazing!
Again change of the stage and musical instruments, and this time Katy Perry comes with her band and dancers. I have to say she looked a bit taller and not that skinny like on TV. But her show was perfect, she changed twice (both weird dresses typical for her) and sang all the famous songs, Hot n’ cold, I kissed a girl, California girls, Teenage dream and the nicest one was the Firework with fireworks all over the stage.
After Katy, Linkin Park one more time. Definitely were the best ones, considering the feedback of the audience. They sang songs like What I’ve done, Faint, Leave out all the rest, In the end, Breaking the habit, From the inside, Waiting for the end and of course Numb, too. It was spectacular and so natural their singing, no doubt they won BEST LIVE ACT at MTV EMA 2010. You could see it all live on MTV on the 7th Nov from 8pm.
Enjoyed a lot all 3 groups and their songs but after 6 hours of standing there at the same place without any water, food or toilet and just in a jumper, how Linkin Park sing “Waiting for the end to come, wishing I had strength to stand, this is not what I had planned, It’s out of my control” … but I was freezing and needed to use the toilet asap so decided to leave. Frankly, I left running to my hostel. But believe me, that was the best concert I’ve ever been to, the greatest atmosphere and for free :) MTV Music Awards 2010 in Madrid.
