My indescribable love of motorbikes
If you follow my Facebook Fanpage or Instagram in summer months (June to August), then you might have noticed that I post a random photo of me on a motorbike. Many of you do not know it, but since I was a child, I’ve had this indescribable love of motorbikes.
I believe it was my dad who got me into this as he’s been riding motorbikes since his teenage years. For the past few years, we’ve been trying to go on motorbike trips around Eastern Slovakia. We go on both daily trips now and then just to enjoy a sunny day, and also for a few days to the mountains. The weather is not always the best, but then it’s even more fun, right? When we went to the High Tatras for the last time and stayed at the highest situated hotel Sliezsky dom, it was raining like crazy and I got soaking wet. But that fact makes the trip even more memorable now and we laugh about all the layers I was wearing in order not to freeze completely.
Our daily trips with dad are mostly through small villages where there’s less traffic and more nature to see. My home country Slovakia has beautiful landscapes and that’s just one of the reasons why one should visit Slovakia. Sometimes we go to see unique wooden churches that were built with no nails. On other days we ride towards one of the lakes or dams, such as Zemplinska Sirava, Morske oko or Starina (mosst of Eastern Slovakia gets potable water from Starina dam).
I have to confess I am personally scared of riding and driving any vehicle in general.
I suck at driving which is why I always need someone to ride me around. Sometimes it’s dad as he is a very safe rider not overspeeding, but I do enjoy going on motorbike trips with friends as well.
Every August there is a motorbike reunion with thousands of motorbikes from around Slovakia and even Ukraine, Hungary and Poland. It happens by the Zemplinska Sirava dam which is approximately 1 hour from my home town so I tend to attend always when not traveling abroad. In August 2016 I had friends at the motorbike reunion so I showed them a bit of Eastern Slovakia. They fell in love with Benatina, once a stone pit, now full of crystal clear water. Below you can see some of my Instagram photos from our motorbike trip.
Why do I love motorbikes so much?
1. Motorbike trips always calm me down.
2. I love looking around and observing the nature and architecture.
3. I feel alive when sitting on a motorbike.
4. Adrenaline is a good friend of mine…
5. And, motorbike riders are so sexy!
