Piedra del Sol Aztec calendar
As you might have noticed already, my favorite country ever lies in North America. And there’s even at least 26 reasons why I love Mexico. The many archaeological ruins in Mexico all around are just one of the main reasons that make me incredibly happy when there.
And to the ruins somehow belongs also one of the most famous calendars ever – the so called Piedra del sol Aztec calendar. There’s hundreds and hundreds of different interpretations of the calendar around Mexico found in the stores, sold outside of the pyramids or even as mosaics on the walls, such as the huge one in Todos Santos magical town. The main one that was found in Templo Mayor in Mexico City can be now found in the National Museum of Anthropology and History in the capital.
The Piedra del sol – or Sun Stone in English – is a difficult system which is explained a bit on Wikipedia in case you are interested in finding out more about the Aztecs used it.
