Road trips – the ultimate way to bond
Road-tripping is one of the best ways to bond with someone. Whether it is a friend or a partner or even a family member, this style of travel is filled with shared experiences and great memories. Here are some of the things you need to do when you are thinking about heading out on a road trip.
Pick the right person
One of the first things you should do is make sure that you are heading on a road trip with exactly the right person. You no doubt have many different people you could go away with and you need to make sure you are with the candidate who you are going to get on with the most.
You are likely to spend every second of this holiday with them, especially if you are going to be sharing hotel rooms along the way too. Ideally, you also want to find another driver so you are not in the driving seat the entire time. This probably means that you will have to put your co-driver on your insurance. You might have to find some very cheap car insurance just as a temporary solution to get you both covered for the trip.
Have games prepared
There are going to be times when conversation lulls on the road. You might not want to chat back and forth for a stretch of the trip and that is fine. However, you also need to be prepared to get the conversation up and flowing once more to avoid awkward silences.
This is not going to be the easiest if you do not know the person you are road-tripping with but there are some key things you can do. One of the best things to do is look at some games beforehand. If you can come up with some simple verbal games that won’t distract the driver too much, you should be able to get things going again.
Share in favourites
Music is one of the big things that everyone loves. If you know that you and the person you are road-tripping with have the same taste in music then you should get together beforehand to put together the ultimate playlist. In addition to some classic road trip songs, you should add some of the songs that you both love the most.
Also make sure that you both add songs which the other one has not listened to. It can be a great way for you to expand your musical horizons and find new tracks which you adore. Make sure that whoever is in the driver’s seat has the final say on a song. They are the ones who have to control the car while the music is playing. If they don’t like the song then they should have the right to ask for it to be skipped.
Try new things
You will bond with your road trip buddy faster through shared experiences. When you are in your planning session, decide on what type of road trip you want. Are you both happy to stay a few days in a certain place either to relax or to do a few activities or would you rather spend the entire time on the road? This is an important factor you need to work out, along with the types of activities you are going to be doing.
Some people love nothing more than combining their road trip with the chance to visit famous historical sites (e.g. Mexican pyramids). Others want to go for walks and get out in nature as much as possible. Finally, there are some who would rather take the time to sit back and relax as much as they can. You need to make sure that you are working together to strike a balance.
If you are on this trip to bond, why not each take a day to plan fully. Keep it a surprise from the other party and unveil it step by step throughout the day. This is a cute way for you both to put some effort into a plan beforehand. Make sure you discuss activities which are completely out of the question first so there is no disappointment beforehand.
Heading out on a road trip might be one of the best things you and your co-driver could do. There are so many experiences the two of you can share and you might be closer than ever before after the trip is over. Planning is always going to be key so make sure that you try to sort out as much of it beforehand, even if this is a “spontaneous” road trip. Before you know it, you could be on the road together and having the time of your lives! Start thinking about that road trip now!

That’s true that road trips should be done with people we really have a good relationship with and we can stand each other well :) Good luck in finding a person like that :)
