Massage at Spa du Verger at Hotel La Ferme
When I was staying at the Cloister of Hotel La Ferme in Charlevoix, I was so grateful for finding out the hotel has a lovely Spa du Verger. Trying to get over the sickness I had the days before, I decided to splurge and spend some quality relax time in the spa.
After I booked a massage there, I received a bag with the region sign, a BPA free plastic bottle (SO useful!) and a comfy white bath robe. I filled out a casual form about my health.
My masseuse Julie spoke some English so we could have the basic conversation. I was actually happy she was not super fluent as all I needed was relax time without chatting much. I needed to get my silent meditation during the massage.
Once I lay down on the massage bed, Julie started putting a warm towel under my legs. Lemon smell was all around me. Then she put a cover on top of the towel on me. The cover had a local design as I spotted already in other parts of the hotel La Ferme stressing out everything was locally produced. The cover on me reminded me of old days back in Slovakia when my grandmother had similar colourful covers.
Julie also covered my toes with small towels which made me wondering … How did she know my toes are always freezing? Then I felt something warm on my back too. It felt like oil in a way but I was not sure as it had different condensation. It was something else even though I could not recognize what at that time. I indulged in the massage letting all my thoughts go.
Julie started massaging my back and upper bottom first, then arms and hands.
She massaged me as if it was one continuous motion the whole massage. I never felt like that before. Here moves were so smooth!
After a month without a massage since Hacienda Encantada in Mexico my back would normally have a strong reaction with me jumping on the massage bed and moving a lot. Nothing like that happened now though which only proved how great Julie was at making all my muscles relax as much as possible.
Then the legs and feet followed. It was almost completely dark in the room so I felt asleep and completely forgot to take more photos :D
Julie woke me up to turn around, we spoke very little once again. She was just reassuring if I was feeling comfortable with the pressure and everything was in the right place. Legs and feet from the front now, then arms, cleavage and neck with a towel on my eyes for a proper deep relaxation. Julie also massaged slightly my face and hair pressing the right points. Her hands smelled like herbs very intensely. She also rubbed her hands to heat up points on my body and then woke me up slowly.
In the end the massage took around 90 minutes instead of the planned 60. I was a happy kid, indeed! Only then I found out it was a candle massage. That’s why I could not recognize the oil consistency.
After the massage I could relax in the spa area, get a cup of herbal hot tea with lemon, lie down or enjoy the jacuzzis outside.
The rest of the candle was a little present for me, together with the Hotel La Ferme bag and the bottle. Wow, such a treat! I was really pleased :)
So if you are visiting Charlevoix region, for example on the Le Massif de Charlevoix train, do not hesitate to enjoy Spa du Verger at Hotel La Ferme. It is one of the must-dos!
