7 incredible swimming pools at The Laguna Bali hotel
The Laguna Bali hotel is situated on the Nusa Dua beach in Southern Bali.
Nusa Dua (meaning Two islands and named after two small Peninsula islands located in the Southern part of Bali) was once a non-productive land which had been transformed into an international five-star hotel area visited mostly by Europeans.
What I loved about the Laguna Bali hotel:
LOVED the 7 swimming pools with turquoise water – I could stare at the 5,000 square metres of water there for ages without getting bored. It was definitely the highlight of my stay as just the view of the blue lagoons calmed me down instantly.
parts of pools have sand on the bottom where you get into th water – what an excellent idea!
you can watch Balinese fire dance at Cascade Bar followed by Balinese blessing ceremony at the Resort temple and then enjoy a buffet dinner at the Banyubiru restaurant (extra cost.) The dinner is mostly focused on traditional Pan-Asian cuisine with many International meals, with Japanese sushi, both Chinese and Indonesian meals, meat dishes, salads, desserts and fruit. I truly enjoyed all the lights there and the romantic atmosphere with live music.
Arwana restaurant overlooking the azure waters of the Indian Ocean – I had lunch there once. It’s a seafood beachfront restaurant but I ordered vegan meals which were especially made for me. Young coconut, mango cake, fresh veggie salad and mushroom risotto without cheese. Oh yummy! I could hardly walk after such a huge lunch and take to take a nap on the beach.
so many romantic gazebos by the pools and on the beach where you can enjoy the shade sipping on a fresh coconut, working on your laptop or provoking your loved ones back home posting holiday photos on the social media :D
24/7 gym with many cool machines. Definitely one of the best gyms I’ve seen at hotels around the world. Yoga mats, bosa, balls, treadmills, dumb-bells, weighing scale, free water and fruit etc.
Lagoon Spa open since 8 am till midnight – I appreciate late closing as many people want to enjoy good weather during the day but in most hotels the spa closes around dinner time so they are losing clients; not in here.
Lagoon Spa has been recognized as the Country Winner for Best Luxury Resort Spa at the 2015 World Luxury Spa Awards. The Lagoon Spa is situated not far from the lobby surrounded by the crystal waters of the swimmable lagoon. The spa is inspired by the Seven Pillars of Well-Being (life balance, harmony, beauty, vitality, aqua, nature and nutrition) which are derived from the four basic elements of human life (air, water, fire and Earth.) For my 90-minute Balinese massage I could choose between lemon and ginger oil, lemon and lavender, or ylang ylang and pacholi oil. My therapist Wati spoke good English and I found her very knowledgeable. Within three minutes she found out all my weak spots. Wati made my day even three times. First, with her compliments: ”Wow, so flexible. Do you do yoga?” :) ”Very nice skin, texture is good.” And then with the whole massage when she could clearly read my entire body without me having to tell her where to focus. Highlights: She did some movements I have never seen before; not even after hundreds of massages! She pressed the stress points close to the shoulders and shoulder blades to literally stop the blood in my arms – which really hurt. Then also when releasing the finger joints, she also pushed above the wrist which helped. And the head and face massage was the best ever. I really enjoyed it around my hands and feet, then butt area, shoulders and belly. I could feel a lot going on in my belly during the massage. And the smell of frangipani flower in the room made up for even better memories. I did not want the massage to end, trust me! Wati advised me not to take a shower after to keep the oil working on my skin for longer.
many different flowers and plants all around the property, also some cool statues
staff is very pleasant
beach – it’s definitely not the best beach I’ve been to but it’s still a beach. I didn’t swim there but it’s really nice for chilling out on a sunbed or for going on a peaceful walk. You can turn right and walk to the little hill with a temple (remember to cover your shoulders and wear a sarong around your legs as to any other local temple.)
nice smell and air conditioning in the hallways
unique Odalan Temple Ceremony – I was lucky enough to stay at the Laguna during its temple anniversary (most hotels in Bali do all have a little temple as part of their property.) Each temple in Bali celebrates its anniversary every 210 days when spirits descend from Heaven and are entertained for 3 days with dance, prayer and food. It was a memorable experience to walk around the hotel listening to the music and observing the locals all dressed up in the traditional Balinese costumes.
squirrels and doves – I observed those cuties for hours!
free water in the room – on my first day I received 4 complimentary bottles of 380 ml, then 6.
quiet – my room was located on the top 4th non-smoking floor and I was really grateful for it as I needed to catch up with sleep.
tennis court a few metres outside of the lobby
possibility of a romantic dinner on the beach
you can order newspapers and magazines from 79 countries in 40 languages
business centre where you can print, scan, fax etc.
in-room dining and 24/7 butler
Remede Spa:
lovely entrance
I could choose between peppermint, lavender or rosemary natural oil to be used for the 60-minute Remede Customized Massage
I was amazed by the butterfly theme of the spa with hundreds of butterflies around in many forms, e.g. mirrors, on the wall, on the furniture and bed sheets, etc.
the therapist knew exctly what the perfect massage pressure meant to me
very polite therapist (calling me by my name all the time, asked if the temperature/music/pressure were ok, smiled all the time)
I could choose between coconut milk hair balm or tonic to use on my hair after the massage – I choose my very favorite coconut which was exactly what I needed as my hair was damaged
after the massage, I noticed a Moon with butterflies in the ceiling. How sweet is that?!
I got offered green tea after the treatment, yum
I was picked up by a golf car driver to be taken to the lobby and from there back to the Laguna where I was staying
