Fun with Taboo from Black Eyed Peas at Molo Street Parade Rimini
To visit Rimini was always one of my dreams because so many Slovaks go there on holidays. And traveling around the world to hundreds of different destinations but not visiting one of the maybe top 10 almost every Slovak person been to felt kind of weird to me. The good traveler in me just had to change it.
So after visiting Montreal and before flying home to Slovakia for summer 2013 with my family, I took a few days off in Bologna and Rimini to relax with great friends of mine (also bloggers), hike and spend some time in spa.
I had been to Bologna a few times before so I knew exactly what I admired about the city but I had a date with Rimini, my first date. It turned out that Rimini was a lovely surprise to me. I did expect thousands of sun beds on the beach but that’s pretty much all I knew. So when Nick asked me to go to Molo Street Parade Rimini I was a bit sceptical. To go where? To a party? Me?
If you know me better, then you are aware of the fact that I do not drink alcohol and I am not a party person at all. Not for more than 5 years.
So I really did not want to go to that crazy party in the beginning. But then, I said yes to just a few minutes.
We walked to the Molo where the Parade took place. I was in a shock to see so many people there! Wow, the party must be more popular than I thought! I started feeling claustrophobic when holding the hands of my friends trying to get through the crowd along 1 km molo.
”Why did I agree on coming? I will leave soon.” I heard the voice in my head.
But then we got to the main boat where Boy George was presenting. There were other 79 DJs on Molo Street Parade Rimini on that night, the night of the 29th June 2013. I was only interested to see 2 of them. Boy George turned out to be a bit arrogant, not smiling into the camera at all and to be honest even seemed annoyed and turned away when we were trying to take photos of him.
Then, it was time for a huge unexpected change.
We used our travel blogger power to get Press access closer to the DJs.
We could pass the fence between the boats and the fan crowd and stand just a few metres from the DJs just next to the boats where they were on. Just to give you an idea, there were a couple of fishing boats along the Molo, each one with a different kind of music.
To be honest, watching Boy George was not to so pleasant. It was ”just” fine. However, observing the dancers around him was a lot of fun. I did admire their moves, costumes and make-up! Despite of their beauty on the stage, I was planning on leaving back to the hotel early.
But then Boy George left and Taboo, my biggest secret idol from Black Eyed Peas appeared on stage.
You know Taboo? The cute Latino-looking guy with long black hair? I mean, the one who used to wear long black hair? Because he shaved it off! He still looked sexy … and even more charismatic in person than in the Black Eyed Peas videos.
I started waking up … and after a few minutes I also changed my opinion about leaving the party.
Taboo was just so much fun! He played the best songs not only famous Black Eyed Peas ones but also of other singers, such as Alicia Keys, Ceelo Green or Britney Spears. Everyone started having even more fun, dancing around and singing.
The best part of Molo Street Parade Rimini was just about to come … when I was allowed to go up on the boat.
The rest of the parade I spent 1 metre from Taboo, taking photos and videos of him … and also showing off my butt in a skirt to the audience trying to get the best close-up shots of Taboo as I had to somehow get over the boat rail facing the audience with my back.
After a while, my fellow travel bloggers got on the stage next to me and we danced. Yes, I danced too. There’s very few people in the world who have ever seen me dancing and this night changed it all. I don’t drink, I don’t dance. I mean, it has to be something really outstanding to make me dance in front of other people. And trust me, there were thousands of people at the Molo Street Parade Rimini and even loads from press.
Check out my video from the Parade:
I refused to accept the Molo Street Parade Rimini had to finish. And most of all I did not want Taboo to leave. But everything comes to an end and so did the party.
When it was over, my friends asked me to talk to Taboo in Mexican Spanish (as his family is from Mexico) to get him to take a photo with us. As soon as I shouted:
”Jaime, podrías tomarte una foto con nosotros?” When I shouted at Taboo his real name with a Mexican accent, he turned and his eyes sparkled like diamonds.
”Claro que sí, beautiful. Eres mexicana? Como te llamas?”
So we took 2 group photos and then I took a photo with Taboo alone HUGGING!
We had a quick conversation that meant the whole life to me! Taboo seemed very delighted to find someone who loves the country of his family, Mexico, the most beautiful country in the world; and he even took my business card.
I was shaking. No matter how old you are, if you meet one of your secret crushes, you always shiver, right?
When Taboo was leaving the boat, he invited me to their VIP after party at Coconuts Club.
My friends made fun of me as just 3 hours ago I was 100% sure I would be in bed by that time. And there I was, dancing and asking my friends to go to the after party :)
So we did …
And I LOVE to talk about what happened next …
Because just a few minutes after we appeared the party, when Taboo saw me, he walked among his bodyguards towards me asking ”how are you, my friend? Are you having a good time here?” and kissing me on both cheeks. And the hug! OMG, the hug was so powerful I can still feel it.
Meeting up with Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley from the Vampire Diaries in Barcelona in the past was orgasmic. But let me tell you …
Fun with Taboo from Black Eyes Peas at the Molo Street Parade Rimini was so worth it too. It was one of the many moments when I was super happy I am a travel blogger. Otherwise, there is no way I could get so personal with Taboo.
Aw, and the rollercoaster was a blast too!
Thank you, Blogville and Emilia Romagna Tourism for making my dream come true.
***It took me more than 10 hours to write this post, choose from hundreds of photos and make the video.
