3 reasons to visit Cape Town South Africa
Table Mountain National Park
Cape Town stands out from many other holiday locations because of its unique natural features. The most obvious and popular natural attraction is the Table Mountain National Park. This park is home to the world famous Table Mountain, which is well known for its flat top and table-like appearance. When you reach the summit of Table Mountain you really get to see just how stunning Cape Town is, with views of the city, the national park and Table Bay.
The national park has other attractions too, with other mountains to climb and plenty of places to walk, hike and cycle. Other popular locations to visit in this area include Lions Head, Black Table, Signal Hill, the Twelve Apostles and Devil’s Peak.
Robben Island
Robben Island is situated approximately 5 miles from Cape Town. It has significant historical importance because it was the place Nelson Mandela was imprisoned in for eighteen years. Thousands of visitors go to the Island every year.
To get to Robben island, you have to take one of the ferries that go to the island each day. The trip includes the voyage on the ferry, a visit to the Robben Island Museum, a guided tour of the island and a visit to the prison itself including the cell Nelson Mandela was kept in.
Victoria and Alfred Waterfront
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is located between Robben Island and Table Mountain. It’s one of the most popular areas in Cape Town. This area of the city gives visitors unique views of the city, the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain and all of the other stunning features visible in Cape Town.
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront area is the perfect place to dine, shop, socialize and take in the views of the city. The main attractions in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront include the Clock Tower, Time Ball Tower, Robben Island Embarkation building, Breakwater prison, South African Maritime Museum and much more.
