What you should do when you’re in Houston
Giving you the best of the southern charm has to offer, the 4th biggest city in the United States, Houston, has something exciting and adventurous things for everyone to do. Houston is the place to be for the cultural bug in you who wants to experience art, music, inventions in space, and other exciting and mind-boggling activities.
Whether you’ve visited this city that is full of life multiple times or it is your first time here, our list contains several things you should do when you’re in here!
1. Visit the Space Center Houston
We cannot possibly mention things to do while you’re in Houston without bringing up the Space Center. The finest interstellar museum globally, it hosts a plethora of attractions and displays that will truly blow your mind. Besides getting on the NASA tram tour where you learn about some of the highlights from the Johnson Space Center, you can also visit the Rocket Park that boasts several rockets of different sizes from the space program. 2.Check out the Houston Zoo
Established in 1922, this enormous piece of land measuring over 55 acres is home to more than 900 species. Besides the many exhibits, including the African forest, bug house, and Galapagos islands, you can also enjoy your day by feeding giraffes, by petting cute, fuzzy animals, or even taking part in fun water rides at the Kathrine McGovern Water Play Park. Not only is this a great way to keep your little ones entertained, but it is also a real treat for adults.
3. Take a stroll in the Theater District
As one of the largest cultural hubs in the country, Houston boasts the Theater District with several theaters and musical experiences. At the heart of downtown Houston, it has 9 theater venues that play and showcase Broadway shows along with other experiences like Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet at the Wortham Theater. Because the theater district is always buzzing, it is also a place of restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy some great food and conversation.
4. Shop at The Galleria
Bringing in large crowds each year, The Galleria is a popular retail and tourist destination. The shopaholic in you will jump with glee as you hear about the number of national and international retail stores this shopping district holds, serving as a must-do activity when in Houston. Not only does it have large and well-established brands like Tiffany and Co., Gucci, and Apple, it also has 2 hotels and even an ice skating rink for you to enjoy when you need a break from the shopping spree.
5. Day trip to Galveston
This quaint yet charming destination is just an hour away from the city center with way too much to offer. This includes stunning views from the Moody Gardens, fun-filled activities at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier amusement park, and you can also visit several museums, including The Bryan Museum, Texas Seaport Museum, and Galveston Railroad Museum. If you just want to take in the beauty of this pretty town, you can also just lay your blanket on the beach and sunbathe! For when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this beach town is the perfect getaway.
